FAQ: Floor grinding parquet

Most common questions about parquet renovation and sanding in Praha

I.How much does parquet renovation cost in Praha?+
Complete renovation (sanding + filling + varnishing) starts from 420 Kč/m². Sanding alone from 220 Kč/m², varnishing from 230 Kč/m², filling from 80 Kč/m². For a 70 m² apartment in good condition, this means approximately 29 000 - 35 000 Kč for a complete renovation. The exact price will always be provided during a free inspection. It depends on the condition of the wood and the chosen finish.
II.What does dust-free parquet sanding mean?+
Our grinders feature built-in industrial extractors with HEPA filters. Dust is captured directly at the source, at the grinder, before it enters the room air. We grind corner and transition areas using a smaller vibratory grinder with its own extraction system. Dust-free grinding does not mean absolute zero dust, but there is so little that people can remain in the flat while work proceeds. We recommend clearing items from the working surface and moving furniture 1 m away from the edges.
III.Can parquet flooring be sanded multiple times, or does it wear out?+
It depends on the thickness and type of parquet. Traditional solid oak flooring (22 mm) has approximately 8-10 mm of wood above the groove, such parquet can be sanded 5-7 times over its lifespan. Modern three-layer parquet (wear layer 3-4 mm) is more limited in terms of sandability. It can be sanded 2-3 times. We will always check the condition during inspection and give you an honest estimate.
IV.How soon after renovation can you walk on the floor?+
It depends on the chosen surface finish. HD varnish: walking barefoot after 8-12 hours, furniture after 5-7 days. Hard wax oil: walking after 24 hours, furniture after 3-4 days. Parquet with multiple layers of oil (systems such as Rubio Monocoat) may have shorter drying times. We always inform you of the specific schedule before work begins.
V.Do you also work with old parquet flooring from the First Republic?+
Yes, and very gladly. Older parquet is typically made of solid oak or beech with a pronounced wood grain, after renovation it looks magnificent. It is also usually thicker and therefore well-suited to sanding. The only risk lies in hidden nails or metal staples. We check for these with a metal detector before sanding to avoid damaging the sanding disc.
